About Me
I am a watercolor artist living on the outskirts of Austin, Texas. Photographing and planning are as much a part of my creative process as the actual drawing and painting.
My work is inspired by my identity as a Christian and by my intention to glorify the Lord in all I say and do. I see my artistry as a God-given gift that I can offer to others to bring beauty, joy, delight and contemplation to their lives hopefully.
My subjects range from people around me living their every day life to landscapes I can abstract with meaning and emotion. I especially like to capture children in motion–dancing, playing, running!
As a self-taught artist I am influenced by many artists, past and present, who have mentored me, instructed me and encouraged me. They include Jeannie McGuire, Ted Nuttall, Nicolas Lopez, Peggy Knoll-Roberts, and Charles Reid. I love the works of Degas, Matisse, Dufy, and Homer, as well as many others.
I have won honors and awards in many competitions judged by various nationally and internationally known artists. Somehow they must see something of value and uniqueness in my work, and this greatly encourages me. I hope you do as well.
